Hockey day in Canada Moncton

Hockey Day in Canada rolled into Moncton, New Brunswick this January, and the city fully embraced it. The day kicked off with a parade that made its way from the Moncton Farmers’ Market through downtown to the Avenir Centre, setting the tone for a celebration that felt equal parts national spotlight and hometown pride. Downtown buzzed as events got underway, with the Avenir Centre at the heart of it all. SportsNet's full crew was on site—Ron MacLean, Kevin Bieksa, Jennifer Botterill, Dave Amber, Ken Reid, and Evanka Osmak—bringing Hockey Day in Canada to life while interacting with fans. I even had the chance to pass along some of my photo magnets to the Sportsnet crew, which was a fun, personal highlight of the day. From a photography perspective, events like this are hard to beat. Everywhere you looked, something was happening—street ball hockey games, outdoor rink, families and fans gathered along the sides, and lots of kids playing hockey outside. These candid, unscripted moments are what make hockey culture in Moncton so awesome . Some of the best images came from those kids—oversized jerseys, taped-up sticks, snow Falling all day. Hockey Day in Canada 2026 wasn’t just an event in Moncton; it was the city showing how deeply the game is woven into the community, and for one week we Rock it. and I say Go Cats Go......
The first Photo of the SN crew was taking by my good friend Andre Boulard
