Why I’m Starting a 1 of 1 Photo Series I’ve been thinking a lot about how images live in the world today. We scroll past thousands without really seeing them. They’re copied, reposted, resized, and forgotten. At some point, I realized I wanted to make photographs that stop that cycle—images that exist once, and only once. That’s where this 1 of 1 photo series begins. Every photograph in this series is a single, final object. No editions. No reprints. No alternate sizes. When it leaves my hands, it exists in one place, owned by one person. That limitation isn’t restrictive to me—it’s freeing. It forces intention at every step. Choosing Scarcity on Purpose Making work this way is a conscious choice. I want each image to feel like a moment that can’t be repeated, because it can’t. There’s something powerful about knowing that a photograph doesn’t live anywhere else—no backup copy waiting to be printed, no second version floating around online. When someone owns one of these pieces, they own the photograph. Not a version of it. Not number 3 of 25. Just the one. Museum-Quality, Because It Matters If a photograph is meant to exist for a long time, it has to be made properly. Every piece in this series is printed using museum-quality materials—archival paper, professional pigment inks, and careful color control. These aren’t just technical details; they’re part of respecting the work. I want these photographs to age well. To be something that can hang on a wall for decades and still hold its depth, texture, and presence. Signed, Always Each photograph is signed by me. That moment matters. It’s the final acknowledgment that the work is finished and intentional. A signature connects the piece back to its origin—to the time, place, and person who made it. Along with the signature, the work comes with documentation confirming that it is a true 1 of 1, with no future reproductions. Protecting the Work Through Copyright (Canada) Every image in this series is also registered for copyright in Canada through CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office). While copyright exists automatically when a work is created, registration creates a clear, official record of authorship. This is about protection and transparency. The collector owns the physical artwork, and the creative rights remain clearly defined. It’s important to me that the work is respected—not just artistically, but legally as well. More Than a Series This project isn’t about producing more—it’s about meaning more. I’m not trying to keep up with trends or volume. I’m trying to create photographs that feel grounded, considered, and lasting. A 1 of 1 image asks you to slow down. To sit with it. To know that it exists only where you are. That’s the kind of work I want to make. My first 1 of 1 will be released end of January 2026
